I am a cellular south customer and I have the same problem. I too love the phone and went from at&t with an iPhone to the Hero. This is a much better platform but the YouTube bug is frustrating.

I wish I could do that too but something tells me that watching Star Trek edits while driving the two miles from my house to my work isn't such a good idea. For what it's worth, YouTube worked just fine on the Nexus One (which I'm shipping back today in fact). Come on HTC, let's get that update pushed out to carriers already! I thought I’d let you know that I’m on a European network with a non-branded Hero and facing exactly the same problems. Before I used to watch youtube videos in the train all the time, so for me it kinda is more than a minor complaint. Let’s hope for HTC to fix it in their hopefully upcoming 2.1 ROM update.

I actually read something similar in a Sprint forum yesterday (sorry, can’t seem to find the link now). In it, they stated that Sprint had referred the problem to HTC and Google / YouTube for resolution.

Haha, I agree with what you’re saying about this not being a big deal but still being an annoyance. It’s sorta like having just left the car wash in your nice clean car and having a bird drop a bomb on your hood – annoying but not enough to set fire to the car for the insurance money.

I think you’re right, Tate. The good news is, now that Google’s new phone sporting 2.1 is out, it opens up the opportunity for HTC to (finally) update. Like you said, hopefully it’ll fix the problem. The kicker is, I don’t even use the YouTube app that often. It just ticks me off that it doesn’t work.

I have seen on one forum, in a Moto Droid thread, where it was mentioned that HTC was aware of the issue and that it was due to a software update. Not sure how reliable that is.
